Five Questions With The Firm!

If there was one tip you could give someone when seeking a lawyer, what would it be?

“Well, first make sure the attorney practices in the specific area that you need, but that is not the tip. Here’s the tip: Meet with them face to face and ask a lot of (pertinent) questions. You are looking for a display of specific knowledge of the law that relates to your problem, not generalizations and hollow promises, but specifics. You want a realistic expectation, not a braggadocios promise of dollars, but real answers and options. Do they spend time with you, do you like them, do you trust them? You are going to spend a lot of time with them on an important matter, so the bottom line is you have to choose someone you like.”

What affect do you think the technology savvy generation (millennials) will have on your profession?

“When I started practice, technology included a desk-top computer (not connected to the internet, so – a word processor), a telephone and a paper Rolodex. Each generation of attorneys brings advancement in technology. My observation however has been that advanced technology brings informality, relaxed rules of drafting and simplified abbreviated content. With Millennials, I just hope we don’t start using memes.”

What is your favorite thing to do on your day off?

“I like spending time with family, away from phones. I am an avid sport shooter, so if I have alone time, I preferring shooting at the range as my method of blowing off steam.”

What is your dream vacation destination?

“A grand hunting trip in the mountains. However, I would rather defer to my wife and her preference – a warm white sand tropical beach. So I guess my dream vacation would include great hunting on snow capped mountains within a short drive from a tropical beach. I haven’t found it yet.”

If you had the choice of being on a talk show,

what show would you choose?

“I don’t watch talk shows. Is Johnny Carson still on? I would go there.”
