Operation Holiday Powered By HumanKind

Operation Holiday, Powered by HumanKind Ministries, is underway. In partnership with the Accident Recovery Team, the annual holiday food and gift drive anticipates increased need this year. More than providing basic needs to Sedgwick County’s most vulnerable residents, Operation Holiday brings the community together in a spirit of human kindness to spread hope—showing our low-income neighbors that their community cares.

Seasons to give and receive

Operation Holiday requires year round organizing to plan and pull together. With the holidays fast approaching, recipient applications open October 12th. November is dedicated to the donation drive. The pledge telethon takes place on KSN. Dillon’s hosts a Day of Giving and drop-off sites pop-up at businesses throughout the metro area.

December is distribution time for holiday meals and gifts to families in need. This year, distribution will be done in a drive-thru, so there are some new logistics to navigate. It will be a safe, easy, contactless solution that meets the needs of those we serve. Distribution is by appointment only from December 15th to 19th near the Operation Holiday warehouse in Towne West.

Serve and spread joy

Serve alongside the Accident Recovery Team this year. Together, we have what it takes to feed families and bring smiles to kids in our community. Everyone has had a difficult 2020. But, every year since 1960, generous individuals and organizations have come together with HumanKind Ministries to run Wichita’s largest holiday assistance program. The need is greater than ever and we know the community response will rise to meet today’s challenges.

If you have time or treasure to contribute to this cause, please follow this link. Volunteers and donations are critical to Operation Holiday.  Serving approximately 14,000 low-income men, women, and children takes dedicated partners helping to get the word out and donations in. Items of greatest need include nonperishable food, new children’s coats, new or hand-made children’s winter accessories and new or hand-made blankets.

The Accident Recovery Team values this effort and the incredible amount of good it does in the community. From the donation drive to the telethon and then participating in the distribution of Christmas presents and food for holiday meals, our team really appreciates this opportunity to serve. We’ve supported this effort in the past and look forward to being involved every year. Come out and join us in service to the Wichita area and spread some joy this holiday season.
